TOMBELAINE stalked COMMUTE alone in second up the backstretch, closed in around the far turn, took over from his stablemate and shifted inward moving clear past the eighth-pole, and was kept to pressure. SECOND MATE broke inward, settled in the middle of the field three wide for six furlongs, and rallied willingly going clear for the place. SPACE MOUNTAIN bumped with NEEPAWA at the start, saved ground outrun to the stretch, moved out finding his best stride in upper stretch, and finished well. BRUCARITA was bumped and pinched back between horses at the start, lagged well back inside to the stretch, moved outside and gained with belated interest. COMMUTE sped off through sharp early fractions, altered course off the inside as the winner blew by just past the eighth-pole, and weakened late. PAGLIACCI became rank inside heading to the first turn, moved off the rail to the two-path and lacked room near the top of the stretch, and finished evenly when clear. BATTLE OF BLENHEIM was bumped and pushed out by BONDURANT at the start, recovered to a forward early position two wide, and faded in the drive. NEEPAWA took the worst of a bump with SPACE MOUNTAIN to get away slowly, raced two to three wide on the turns, and posed no threat. BLACK SEA (FR) raced in the second flight two wide on the turns, and was never a factor. BONDURANT broke outward bumping BATTLE OF BLENHEIM into BRUCARITA, saved ground in range for six furlongs, and gave way. AMBASSADOR JIM was bumped and pinched back between horses at the start, raced far back and fanned widest into the lane unable to gain.

MAXIMUM SECURITY broke sharply and grabbed the lead inside, rated along establishing an even tempo for six furlongs, was hand urged putting some distance on BODEXPRESS past the quarter-pole in the two-path, got set down in upper stretch remaining well in command, and was lightly urged the last 70 yards. BODEXPRESS unseated the rider behind the gate shortly before loading, came away in good order to prompt the pace outside MAXIMUM SECURITY, was put to an all-out drive past the midway point of the far turn, could not stay with the leader into the lane, but ran on well to be clearly second best. CODE OF HONOR bumped with UNION'S DESTINY at the start, advanced moving in from the three-path after six furlongs, was in a full drive cutting the corner past the quarter-pole, shied out sharply from left-hand pressure outside the sixteenth-pole swapping leads back and forth, and held for the show. BOURBON WAR was unhurried early in the two-path, raced three then four wide around the far turn, and improved position without a solid bid. CURRENT brushed with HARVEY WALLBANGER and was a step slow coming out, saved ground trailing for a half-mile, went two wide on the far turn, went past tired rivals with a mild response and was up for fifth near the wire. HIDDEN SCROLL broke cleanly, tucked in off the leaders while eager under a stout hold early, came under urging moving off the inside past the five-sixteenths, came up empty and faded while drifting back to the rail a sixteenth out. UNION'S DESTINY bumped with CODE OF HONOR at the start, raced forwardly in a bit tight heading to the first turn, stayed on the chase three wide for six furlongs and gave way under pressure between foes nearing the stretch. HARVEY WALLBANGER brushed with CURRENT and was off a step slow, raced well back three wide early, moved further out around the far turn and failed to menace. EVERFAST saved ground in range to the end of the backstretch, and was finished before completing six furlongs. GARTER AND TIE raced widest early, remained well out in the track driven hard past the three-eighths, and had nothing left soon after that. HARD BELLE showed brief speed between horses, and dropped far back two wide after six furlongs.
