Travers Day - Free Selections

Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch? - There are some great races all weekend long and Saratoga has the best card on tap by far. - Take a look at the runners and see for yourself. The weather will be sunny in the 70's and the racing looks to be top-shelf.
Race #9 - The G1 Sword Dancer - 1 1/2 on the inner turf - 3:44pm
#4 - Silver Knott = Flavien Prat in the irons for Charlie Appleby and they are winning 43% as a team. 2nd time off the layoff and the Appleby barn wins 41% on this move. Look for a smooth stalking trip close up and looking to turn up the heat as they begin the turn. The son of Lope De Vega (IRE) gets an extra 1/8th of a mile to run and should be close to the leaders. They want to go four straight wins and make plans for the Breeders' Cup.
Race #10 - The G1 Ballerina - 7f on the main track - 4:20 pm
#4 - Society = A daughter of Gun Runner who sports perfect stalking speed in the hands of Tyler Gaffalione for Steve Asmussen. She is coming off two efforts where she was bumped around quite a bit and a cleaner trip will have her in a good spot today. She is 6 starts with 5 ITM efforts going 7 panels.
Race #11 - The G1 Forego - 7f on the main track - 4:55pm
#8 - Cagliostro = Plenty of early speed and up-close stalkers. This son of Upstart should be off a little more than usual going 1 mile to 7f today, and Jose Ortiz for Cherie DeVaux should make a strong late effort down the lane. Add in those two last bullets works and he looks to be a major player ready to score.
Race #12 - The G1 Allen Jerkins - 7f on the main track - 5:30pm
#8 - Book Em' Danno = There should be a hot pace on the lead and most of the race. This will set up perfectly for a late close under Javier Castellano for Derek Ryan. This is his 3rd start since coming back from Dubai and exits off a Saratoga win, and stakes win at Monmouth Park. Off two straight wins, he sports a sharp work in the morning over the Monmouth course.
Race #13 - The G1 Travers - 1 1/4 on the main track - 6:10pm
# - Thorpedo Anna should set a very quick pace along the rail with Fierceness keeping the tempo hot as well. Look for an exciting race all the way around and will fall into the hands of an up-close stalker.
#7 - Dornoch = Luis Saez will be right off the speed for Danny Gargan and move at the top of the lane. This son of Good Magic is 2/2 ITM at Saratoga and exits a win in the Belmont Stakes going a 1 1/4. Saez wins 16% with early stalkers and since the Derby is a perfect 2/2. His dam Puca has 3 starters and 3 winners to her credit with 2 stakes winners. She was a stakes winner herself and bloodlines that go back to Curlin and Big Brown are solid building blocks for racing. Look for a sweeping move to join the speed and Saez will have a little more in the tank down the lane.
