 The Field Is SetThe 158th Belmont Stakes is this Saturday, June 6th, at Saratoga. Renegade drew post 4 as the 2-1 morning-line favorite. He's the Kentucky Derby runner-up, beaten a head by Golden Tempo at Churchill on the first Saturday in May. Both skipped the Preakness to point at Saratoga, and both come in fresh off five weeks' rest. A few storylines worth knowing before Saturday: - Bill Mott and Junior Alvarado, the trainer and jockey on Chief Wallabee (3-1), are the team that won the 2025 Belmont AND the 2025 Travers at this same track, this same distance, with Sovereignty. Same shop, same combo, going into the same race.
- Chad Brown has three horses in the 9-horse field, including Emerging Market at 6-1 with Flavien Prat. Brown's three-horse setup in a small Grade 1 is rarely a courtesy.
- Pletcher lined Renegade up exactly the way he prepped his last three Belmont winners (Palace Malice 2013, Tapwrit 2017, Mo Donegal 2022): Derby start, skip Preakness, fresh at the third Saturday of the Triple Crown.
