GRACE AND GRIT rated in behind off the leaders while racing a bit keenly, went about two wide into the turn taking closer order, shifted in to cut the corner near the quarter pole, bid inside at the top of the stretch, led about the three-sixteenths, drew clear, was eased up in the final strides. BOURBON SERENGETI pressed the early pace then took a narrow lead, dueled two to three wide into the turn putting away the inside foe to move clear then found a new challenger up the rail at the top of the stretch, was no match for that one but second best. ROYAL BOBBIE was guided outside soon after the start and moved forward ranging up just off the leaders flank, stalked three to four wide into the turn, was encouraged along from the five-sixteenths but weakened thereafter. MOONLIGHT GAL had the early lead shifting in nearer the fence, was overtaken after a quarter, re-bid then tussled with the outside foe in a brief duel, began dropping back after the half, faded in the stretch.

APALTA broke just a half-step slowly, settled off the pace outside, raced three to four wide, was encouraged by the five-sixteenths, swung into upper stretch four wide making a bid near the three-sixteenths, lugged in a bit soon after but straightened out and drew clear. EGYPTIAN settled in behind from just off the fence under light rating tactics, drew nearer on the far turn still removed from the fence, waited briefly in behind foes near the quarter pole, shifted in to cut the corner, made a mild bid up the rail near the three-sixteenths and loomed a threat but was no match for the winner while finishing well enough to secure the place. MCDIESEL broke sharply and went straight to the fore, set the pace inside just off the rail shadowed by an outside foe, was niggled along past the seven-sixteenths, challenged by foes inside and out coming to the three-sixteenths, fought on but lacked the needed late kick. AMBRIDGE shadowed the pacesetter racing mostly three wide, was asked for more about three furlongs out, dropped back turning into upper stretch, switched out and continued to weaken. CARLIN CONTENTION lacked early speed dropping well back, came out turning for home, was not a factor.

CENTAVO settled outside a foe mid-division racing three to four wide on the first turn, moved up wider still at the half, reached striking distance on the far turn again three to four deep, bid at the five-sixteenths, drew clear in upper stretch and extended the advantage under steady handling. FIRST TRUMPET was prominent early then dropped back and switched outside the leader, stalked that one two to three wide through the first turn, moved up to press from outside racing a bit keen early up the backstretch, continued to stalk in range again two to three deep on the far turn, kept on from between runners in mid- to late-stretch and held the place. UNBRIDLED BOMBER exchanged light contact at the start, tucked in settling at the rear inside, saved ground both turns, ran on mildly up the rail but missed second. HE'S GOT THIS settled mid-pack racing near but off the rail, advanced into the far turn, angled out from the three-eighths, was four wide passing the five-sixteenths and gaining on the leaders, came into upper stretch five deep, could not sustain the effort and flattened out. TEXAS RED HOT exchanged incidental contacat at the start, settled outside at the rear, came out further in upper stretch, failed to make a bid. CONFABULATION was urged from the start to make the lead, edged clear and dictated terms kept well off the rail, faced moderate pressure midway up the backstretch, was challenged past the five-sixteenths, faltered in the stretch.

TUSKEGEE AIRMEN was taken back and rated early racing outside, received some encouragement at the half, went four then five wide on the turn, shifted in a bit in upper stretch, was no match for the winner. TREATY OBLIGATION bumped a rival lightly while strongly urged from the break, was in close pursuit from outside three to four wide on the turn, ran on but needed more.
