COURTINBYMOONLIGHT broke in a tangle, raced inside of two rivals on the lead, with none of the others inclined to quicken the pace, went the first half through moderate fractions, then picked up the pace with TEXAS SPEED QUEEN through the far turn, leaving COWGIRL DREAM behind, gained a narrow advantage in upper stretch, and was under strong handling and urging to hold clear to the wire. TEXAS SPEED QUEEN vied between rivals through the early stages, went on with COURTINBYMOONLIGHT through the far turn, had that rival get first run into the stretch but chased gamely to the finish to be a clear second. CLEVER CLEMENTINE tracked the leading trip along the rail, bided time early on the far turn lacking a clear path, angled out to the three-path to set up a late bid, finished well, but could only move up to claim the minor award. COWGIRL DREAM raced three-wide in the front group, backed out near the halfway point, then went one-paced through the late stages. AUNT PENNY got shuffled back after the break, then raced between rivals in the second grouping, started to lose ground before the far turn, dropped well behind, was kept to task under a stiff drive but was unable to improve. SPUN SILK was close up three-wide with the tracking group for the first half-mile, dropped off the pace early on the turn and had little to offer in the stretch.

YO SOY ROY was held up near the back through the first turn, settled well behind the pace, started to close in three-wide through the far turn, continued into the stretch, finished up well under steady handling and right-handed urging, pulled even with UPTOWN TAPPIN at the sixteenth marker, and drove past nearing the wire. UPTOWN TAPPIN settled in the middle of the strung-out field early, then made a strong mid-race move to gain contention going into the far turn, pulled to the lead past the three-furlong pole while not really being asked, responded when set down in upper stretch, finished strong but could not hold off the winner in the final yards. SINGING DIXIE reserved near the rear, navigated an inside path on the far turn, swung four-wide into the stretch and made a grinding advance to be along for the show. ADGER went three-wide and was outpaced through the clubhouse turn, got to the rail for the run down the backstretch, advanced to within range of the leaders heading into the far turn, improved with a rail run, took aim on the leaders turning into the stretch, but flattened out and was unable to threaten. BAYOU BOY settled off the pace while in range up the backstretch, then lost ground on the far turn, and failed to menace through the stretch. SIPPIN SCOTCH hustled away to grab the early lead, had SUMMER HELP lapped on the outside leaving the first turn, left that one behind at the three-furlong pole, then had no answer when UPTOWN TAPPIN challenged before the quarter pole and stopped in the stretch. SUMMER HELP pressed the pace two wide, then suddenly dropped out approaching the three-furlong pole and had nothing to offer in the stretch and was eased to the wire.

WIN'S IMAGE broke sharply and was sent for the lead, made the early running with a rival lapped on the outside and several in close pursuit, was able to temper the pace to the far turn, held sway ahead of two challengers late on the far turn, then drew off when cued in upper stretch to win as much the best. E Z WORDS was was sent hard to get forward position, then always close up but raced three-wide, made a bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, went three-wide into the stretch, was not getting to the winner, but managed to outgame a rival to earn the second prize. DRAMA KING went four-wide into the first turn, continued wide down the back stretch while racing in mid pack in a forward move late on the far turn, and finish evenly under a drive. TAKE THIS CITY pressed WIN'S IMAGE in the two-path from the outset, was still there turning for home, could not kick on with that one late, weakened late, and was unable to save the place. CRUZIN FOR GURLS was slow into stride and was the distant early trailer, advanced closer through the far turn, then angled out under a drive into the stretch and improved. GOLDEN PURSUIT raced two-deep well off the pace, then did not offer up a rally in the stretch. HANK RIDGE settled in along the rail in the middle of the pack, then lacked a rally of the stretch. TEXAS BANDIT was unhurried from the start, and allowed to settle at the back after the start, trailed throughout, and never fired.

ARIES HONOR got away well and vied for the early lead two-wide turning on to the main course, assumed the lead turning on to the backstretch, went a length clear with only one rival taking up the chase, turned back a host of challengers in upper stretch, and held sway under strong handling and intermittent urging. UPTONO BUENA settled at the back, navigated a forward path into contention through the far turn, came four-wide into the stretch and put in a good finish to gain the place. QUALITY STYLE showed good speed from the break to take the lead turning on to the main course, ceded the front to ARIES HONOR turning down the backstretch, tracked from third position, and continued the chase through the stretch. ETERNAL MISCHIEF secured an inside trip to the first half-mile, went out to the two path late on the back stretch, and produced a good finish under strong handling, but came up short in the end. WHISKEY OVER ICE tracked close up three-wide, went after ARIES HONOR alone on the lead approaching the half-mile pole, finished willingly, but was out-kicked in the final yards. THOUSAND CHANCES off slow, remained on the inside and churned on willingly, gaining some ground in the stretch, but was not a serious threat. YOUNG POPE raced well off the pace early on, continued near the back around the turn, and made no bid in the stretch. ZORRO D' ORO was close up in three-wide for the first half mile and staged a steady retreat to the back from that point. AIR OF GHURAIR raced five-wide throughout and never threatened.

VICTORY FOR VETS took a stalking position on the inside just off the leader, pulled near even approaching the quarter pole, responded when set down in upper stretch, had the rider lose the crop near the furlong marker, but held safe under steady handling, widening the margin near the finish. GOLDEN GRIT raced two-wide on the lead while under confident handling, quckened away with VICTORY FOR VETS into the stretch, but could not match that rival late, chased gamely and had to settle for the place. MR JAWS settled between horses in the main group, was hard held between rivals and steadied twice down the back stretch off heels, waited for room going into the turn, then finished up well to gain third while never a threat to the top two. TX CODE was always close up three-wide, then was outfinished in the stretch. DUST EM settled unhurried well behind the rest in the first half-mile, then was unable to keep up in the late stages.
