OVERSPENT broke inward, corrected and edged up to attend the pace three deep, moved to near even terms approaching the quarter pole, emerged in a duel outside SET FOR LIFE leaving the three sixteenths, drifted in a bit while on his left lead and under right handed asking, gained a slim lead inside the sixteenth pole and was fully extended to prevail. TETHERED SOUL rated off foes near the five eighths then came in tightening NEVERWORKEDADAY, corrected and angled out, chased the embattled trio while four wide past the five sixteenths, circled into the stretch, closed gamely through the final seventy yards and was getting to the winner. SET FOR LIFE attended the pace from the inner rail, sparred inside a pair of rivals from the far turn to the head of the stretch, stayed on and clung to a slim lead dueling inside the winner past mid stretch, lost the advantage with about seventy yards to go then gave way grudgingly. NEVERWORKEDADAY , a bit sluggish from the gate, checked when put in tight soon past the five eighths, regrouped and was put to a hustling ride towards the inside, angled out into the stretch, pursued between runners past the three sixteenths then failed to muster up the needed late kick. EXPRESSO BAY sped to a slim early lead outside SET FOR LIFE, was headed nearing the three eighths but stayed on between rivals to contest the pace, failed to kick on leaving the three sixteenths and tired. Following a stewards' inquiry, TETHERED SOUL was disqualified from second and placed fourth for causing interference through the backstretch run

DAD JOKE bumped with QUAIN soon after the break, circled the turn three wide, took the lead outside horses near the eighth pole and drew clear under urging. GOLDEN DESCENT sprinted to the front, set the pace along the inner rail, was overtaken near the eighth pole and held the place. GOODLUCK ROAD chased outside GOLDEN DESCENT, was well positioned in upper stretch and flattened out. DIVINE SWAGGER stalked the pace, raced between horses and failed to rally. TIZ THE GREAT raced along the rail leaving the turn, moved out, worked between horses and passed tired ones. MY CAPTAIN , fractious behind the starting gate, raced between foes in the stretch and was not a factor. MY FRIEND LOU raced along the inne rail turning for home and failed to be a factor. RIO DEL VALLE chased the pace and gave way in the stretch run. STAR ATLAS , outrun, raced between horses in the stretch. QUAIN bumped with the winner soon after the break and was outrun. QUAHOG REPUBLIC , wide in the stretch, was not a factor. HOORAW , sluggish at the beginning was outrun and drifted very wide turning for home.

CUPID'S CHOICE edged up between foes early then angled out nearing the turn to track, went on the attack to the three wide outside the leader leaving the five sixteenths, asserted herself soon into the lane, opened up under solid left handed asks in mid stretch then continued to eagerly widened while flashed the crop through the final seventy yards. BUTLER ROAD broke on top despite a slight bobble, rated back off the outer speed then stalked inside, eased out for the drive, pursued the runaway winner past mid stretch and continued on with effort to hold down the place. LIGHTEN broke inward bumping with BELLE OF LIBERTY, moved up off the rail nearing the turn then dropped inside mid turn, eased out to go around a tired foe inside the furlong marker, shifted back in and churned on. KARA M S brushed with an outer foe when rated back nearing the half, angled out, made a nice four wide run into the stretch and continued on with willing chase to the wire. GOLDEN ELLIE drafted back while saving ground, eased out three wide into the stretch, worked further out in the track for the final furlong and finished with good energy. MAGGIE'S MOON was nudged up early to be forward into the turn, chased three wide past the five sixteenths, lacked a punch near mid stretch and faded. CHECK RIDE dropped back off the pace, came four wide for the drive and failed to menace. WEATHER BEATER sped clear early, set the pace towards the inner rail, was taken on by the winner mid turn, stayed on to about mid stretch then weakened. BELLE OF LIBERTY , bumped at the start, lacked speed, brushed with an inner rival nearing the turn, came five wide for the drive and weakened.

BIG TANKNESS chased the leader, two wide around the turn, took the lead in upper stretch, was challenged by RYE DIGGITYDOG in mid stretch and dug in tenaciously. RYE DIGGITYDOG , rated along the inner rail on the turn, swung to the four path at the head of the stretch and rallied nicely outside the winner. GREAT HEAVENS lacked speed, raced along the inner rail in upper stretch, worked his way outside approaching the sixteenth pole and rallied late. JESSICA'S EYES a forward factor along the rail, gradually weakened in the stretch. SINETIC set the pace along the inner rail, lost the lead approaching the eighth pole and gave way. VIRGINIA FITZ , four deep leaving the turn, failed to rally. JIGGER chased from the three path and gave way. ENDURING GOLD , outrun, drifted off the inner rail turning for home.
