SONJA HENIE set the pace on the inside, dueled on the far turn, dug in gamely inside in the stretch run and was outkicked. WONDERFULVENEZUELA raced off the pace inside, moved up inside on the backside, chased two wide on the far turn, made a bid at the quarter pole, then was outkicked for the minor placings between rivals. QUEEN CATALINA raced three wide early, settled off the rail, off the pace, chased on the far turn and failed to threaten.
