MISS ELLARY took over soon after the break, cleared towards the inside, was joined by an outer BETULA (GB) into the far turn, battled with that one to about mid stretch then succumbed. FIVECOMMATWO , backed into the gate, came away in good order and stalked outside a rival, edged up after a half, had aim three wide and under a ride nearing the stretch, lacked a punch leaving the three sixteenths and weakened. DROP THE HAMMER settled off the pace and off the inside, was under asking around the final turn, swung six wide for the drive but failed to generate a run. KOBE'S SMILE , a bit rank at the break, was steadied along when in close nearing the first turn, dropped back to last, was under a ride three wide exiting the far turn but failed to get involved. BE INSPIRED rated off the pace while saving ground, came off the rail for the second turn, shifted seven wide in upper stretch and came up empty. MAJESTY'S FREEDOM , off the pace, saved ground near the half and failed to respond. PARADISE WINS , three wide early, saved ground leaving the far turn and weakened.

VARNEY , sent to the front after bumping with LAST MAN STANDING leaving the starting gate, set the pace near the inner rail, responded when asked to switch to his right lead in upper stretch and drew off while kept to his business. LAST MAN STANDING bumped with the winner leaving the starting gate, stalked the pace outside horses on the backstretch, circled the far turn four wide, failed to threaten the winner and gained the place. ENERGIZE , outside the winner down the backstretch, angled to the inner rail approaching the stretch and weakened. DRILL BABY , along the inner rail down the backstretch, moved to the three path between horses entering the far turn, tired and drifted out late. TASK FORCE trailed.

BOOTH broke on top despite a bobble, set a rated pace just off the inside, handled outer pressure around the turn, responded to firmer coaxing soon into the lane, was kept alert with a few left handed asks inside the final furlong and held firm. EPIC RIDE prompted the pace three wide outside the winner, moved to apply pressure leaving the far turn, failed to match strides in upper stretch but kept on gamely to the wire. CELTIC CONTENDER rated back from between runners soon after the break, angled out around the turn, circled four wide with a bit of a run into the stretch, chased but came up empty in the final furlong. S S SINATRA stalked the pace while saving ground, was put to a solid ride mid turn, failed to kick on in upper stretch and faded. CONCRETE GLORY , unprepared for the break when turning his head, came out well behind the field, ducked in towards the gap, pulled up shortly thereafter and walked off. There was a stewards' inquiry into the start of CONCRETE GLORY. Following review, no action was deemed necessary.

ZEITLOS , bumped at the break, regrouped and rated kindly off the leaders, edged up between foes near the three eighths then angled four wide, rolled up under coaxing into the stretch, responded to right handed asks and drew alongside STRIKER HAS DIAL with a furlong remaining, wrested command approaching the sixteenth pole then drew clear while kept to task. STRIKER HAS DIAL bobbled at the break and bumped with an inside foe, recovered and edged up to shadow the leader three wide, moved to a slim lead after a half mile, edged away slightly near the three sixteenths, dug in when confronted in mid stretch then gave way grudgingly. ONE MAGIC PHILLY stumbled inward at the break soundly bumping with HAPPY CLOUDS, straightened then rated back off heels soon after, ramped up a four wide run past the five sixteenths, shifted further out for the final furlong and finished up with good energy. DISCO EBO , a bit restless in the gate, quickly took command and secured the inside, took outer pressure into and around the turn, ceded the lead nearing the lane, stayed willingly to about mid stretch then faded. HAPPY CLOUDS , jostled at the break, regrouped and stalked inside, was under pressure pursuing mid turn, angled out for the drive but came up empty. APPLE PICKER , off the pace, came three wide for the drive and failed to respond.

RETRIBUTION rated forwardly and off the inside, made steady progress four wide and between rivals heading to the quarter pole, sustained and put a head in front between foes near the eighth pole, spurted clear under a hearty ride then held firm while kept alert. TOUCHY , urged along outside rivals, was fanned five wide leaving the three eighths, circled six wide into the stretch, straightened away and closed gamely outside runners to gain the place. SLAM NOTION , away awkwardly, raced off the pace while saving ground and failed to get involved. TRIKARI rated forwardly off the inside, tipped out near the half then bid three wide between runners into the far turn, disputed the issue into the stretch, failed to go on leaving mid stretch and faltered. NEAT dueled to the inside of ABRUMAR, steadied when engulfed by outer foes into the far turn, was taken up soon after, faltered, was eased through the final furlong and walked off.

PAY BILLY , no factor, passed tired horses late. AMERICAN PROMISE , keen to go between horses the first turn, raced in mid pack to the far turn, came into the stretch three wide, weakened and drifted in near the eighth pole. CLEVER AGAIN sprinted clear and was taken to the inner rail entering the first turn, remained along the rail setting the pace to the stretch, was hooked on his outside by JOURNALISM in upper stretch, was taken up when soundly bumped in upper stretch, dropped back and was eased. There was a stewards' inquiry concerning the run in upper stretch but no action was taken.
