The First of Many to Come

Long ago from the bi-weekly TV show The Regular Guy. A handicapping show was more about light betting education than taking ourselves seriously. Plenty of joking around mixed with handicapping gems from over a combined 50 years of handicapping between two friends. This was made for TV.
One would think that if wasn't filled with the good-looking folks giving great reasons to take a look at a horse or who fits better. It couldn't work. Long ago there were the beauties of Beulah Park with the Beulah twins created by Mike Weiss. I'm not about to tell you this was the first handicapping show, but it was fun filled with tongue in cheek humor to keep you entertained, and betting educated.
Over the years John Engelhardt would be at Keeneland or Churchill and the on-air handicappers would come over and pay respects to the "Regular Guy." - They would always tell him long before TVG they would watch what the Regular Guy show had to say. It was River Downs and there were angles we used for fans and bettors. Great stuff. - I was working at Keeneland when approached by the track president Nick Nicholson. - I extended my hand to introduce myself and he said, "I know who you are. You're Ed, from the Regular Guy Show." - Yes sir, once you were a Regular Guy it was a moniker that was badge of honor. - He said we used to watch to see what you guys said next. Always entertaining.
We traveled to Beulah Park in Columbus, Ohio. Two twin beauty queens and two middle aged chubby guys meant for radio. We had a blast and in between laughter we gave many winners out as a team versus a competition. I still have my signed bobble head of the "Twins" and we agreed to meet again as it was so much fun. Fans came up for their autographs and head shot pictures. Oh, we'd love to sit with the new guard of disseminating information. We'd be like "Click and Clack" the mechanics on radio and TV; They do an awesome job, but it's still fun thinking we paved a road for others to turn into a superhighway. Oh, we'd love to roll out banner and sit with the handicappers of today to bring the fans and bettors education mingled with fun of not taking ourselves seriously.
